University of North Carolina Greensboro (UNCG)

UNCGUNC Greensboro (UNCG) was established in 1891 as the first public university for women in North Carolina. With longstanding history, central geographic location and a strong Graduate School, UNCG was selected by a group of stakeholders from many institutions as the site of the first genetic counseling program in North Carolina.

Opening in 2000 and in accordance with their mission, the UNCG Genetic Counseling program has provided an “exemplary learning environment in which students obtain the knowledge, skills, and competencies to provide culturally sensitive, ethical genetic counseling services in a variety of settings.” The MS Genetic Counseling program at UNCG boasts over 150 alumni across the United States and Canada, working in clinical, research, industry, education, policy and interdisciplinary roles.

In continuing with the visionary legacy of the founders of the program, the current faculty are dedicated to advancing training, community integration, access, and care through best practices for the improvement and health and wellness from individuals to communities. Precision Health is the ideal opportunity to show the power and importance of personalized healthcare for all.
